Alternatively you could also record a voice-over on the PowerPoint slides. An efficient tool is Camtasia. Power Points are more useful if the message is complex or you are camera shy.

Generally we take in more if the input is both visual and aural.

Time

It is recommended that the video should be less than 60 seconds. Many times the video may not be watched even for that long.
